Maggie Taggart, former Gown journalist, has been honoured at the CIPR Education Journalist of the Year awards in the House of Commons this week. The awards celebrate the best in education and skills reporting over the last twelve months. Currently the Education Correspondent for BBC Northern Ireland, Taggart picked up an award for ‘outstanding education reporting for a regional journalist’ for a piece of work examining the controversy over the ending of the 11+.

The Gown seems to have so many well known journalists in current media. It’s pretty impressive. Glad its out fortnightly this year too, it makes it so much more relevant and credible. Hope it works out!
Yeh I genuinely look forward to the Monday mornings that it comes out and I have it to read in the library whilst I procrastinate further. I love that Hood column! How does all that gossip be accumulated by one person! And who is he/she!? Will we ever find out!? Any point in even guessing? Like, is there an actual person who spies on people who work at QUB and pass on gossip? They’re like an informer or something!
