FEATURE: QUB business students sort out your holiday with business initiative ComeRoam
Research shows that there are a lot of you out there (20% to be precise) that do not have a destination in mind when you set out to plan your holidays. This is why we have decided to develop ComeRoam, this is an up and coming one stop shop holiday and travel advisory website. To find your perfect trip all we need to know is your budget, your age, your departure location, when you want to go, what type of break you want and ComeRoam will do the rest! So whether it’s a relaxing spa retreat or an action packed adventure holiday, ComeRoam will provide you with relevant and up to date information to help you plan your trip.
Do you have a birthday or anniversary coming up? Why not use ComeRoam to plan a trip based on that special someone’s hobbies and interests. Or how about those annual special occasions? Why not make this year’s Valentines a weekend to remember by booking a trip to Italy for the Venice Carnival (6th – 16th February) – ComeRoam will provide you with all the information you need to plan the perfect romantic getaway.
Perhaps you don’t fancy a trip abroad this year? No problem – ComeRoam will help you make the most of what Ireland has to offer by showcasing the best of what’s going on across the country in the ‘Staycation’ section, to help you beat those credit crunch blues!
Once you have decided on your destination, based on ComeRoams’ suggestions, you’ll be able to pick where to stay, find information on what to do there, where to go out and where to eat, ComeRoam will have all your needs covered!
In the future ComeRoam will be expanding into travel agents with our easy to use interactive kiosks, you will be able to book with the travel agent there and then.
Does this sound like a website you would like to use? ComeRoam is currently in the development stages and your help is needed! It would be greatly appreciated if you could take a few minutes of your time to visit the site and complete the short, simple questionnaire- www.comeroam.co.uk
ComeRoam is being developed by local students Marie-Claire McAteer, 22, who is a past pupil of St. Mary’s High School, Mary Murphy, 22, who is a past pupil of Sacred Heart Grammar School, along with Ashley McKay, 20, from Ballycastle, Joanne McCullagh, 22, and Sinead O’Hagan, 22, both from Dungannon, and Sarah Young, 23, from Castledawson.
They are final year students at Queen’s University Belfast studying Business Information Technology and are developing their business idea with their course tutor Barry McCollum. The fully functioning ComeRoam website is planned to be up and running by early next year.
The main challenge the group is facing at the minute is funding. Funding is always an issue for any new business, and people can be nervous about giving a group of young people a lot of money. But they are willing to put down all the ground work for ComeRoam to be as successful as possible and hope to secure funding in the near future.
So Come online, Come check us out, Come complete the questionnaire ,and most importantly help us get ComeRoam up and running!
There are 196 countries in the world, it’s time to ComeRoam.
