I would like to highlight the fact that this drawing is a satiricial cartoon depicting two sabbatical officers elected by students. Their position as sabbatical officers puts them in the position of being held to account by The Gown, and in various stories on this website, and in our 11 editions of the year, that is exactly what we do.

This is merely a light hearted piece of satire which I'm sure the officers in question took with a pinch of salt. It is not intended to be a piece of "pragmatic journalism".

For a full explanation of the latest spat between The Gown and the Union, see the front page of Monday's paper.

Great illustration indeed, however The Gown have to take a serious look at themselves whilst running these petty stories. Ok, the 'chuckle bros.' they may be, but why run a direct and patronising story/illustration and ongoing hate campaign against these two men by singling them out for attention? I'll admit at not knowing the full details of the debate between VP Lilly and VP Duffy and The Gown office situation, however its plain for all to see The Gown is literally hameorraging credability at their continued dirty tactics and slur campaign of these two individuals over petty issues.
Where's the independent and pragamtic journalism you claim to aspire to, when any time I view this page it's The Gown vs. Lilly/Duffy et al.
It's a fortunate The Gown isn't distributed outside of the university campus for as long as this quality of journalism continues, it's nothing short of embarassing..

The calibre of the comments that come from people who are lilly/duffy supporters says it all really. "aw now, sure aren't they a pair of lads, great craic altogether" etc etc etc. To think that these two loons are in positions of power is much funnier than any cartoon could ever be. Also, I very much doubt that The Gown will continue to be "through" out of Union. I'd imagine it'd be pretty big news if they were. All hail a new sabbatical team which actually DO know what The Gown's reason for being is. Maybe when their post comes to an end, some of this year's sabbs can do a wee bit of research and learn about what The Gown is. They'll probably just be away having lots of craic with all their mature and intelligent friends though.

great pic,

duffman and lilly, best sabs, best craic, kicking gown out of union lmao lmao. great to see!

lol lol lol

Totally agree with Ex Gownie! SU Management and certain VPs really do need to wise up! Hopefully next year things will improve under the new sabbatical team!

@anonymous
its not a "joke", these 2 really did get the gown through out of the union

Great to see more publicity for the duffman and Lilly! Great men. Xox

Great drawing. Awful "joke". Are satirical cartoons not meant to have at least a hint of humour in them?

I think big Paul learned the word 'illustration' on his 12th birthday. Bless him.

Jeez it's all getting pretty sad round these parts

hilarious and poignant! ex gownie is totally right and i love Chuckling's headline

Excellent illustration.

I can see the headlines now: "To me, to you with PRP"

The Union needs to wise up about The Gown, and the sooner they realise it the better.
