REVIEW: Marina and the Diamonds – Family Jewels
A debut single so fine and pure that a single listen to the opening track ‘Are you satisfied?’ will leave your heart completely enthralled with the ethereal beauty of Marina’s voice. The next fourteen tracks, some of which dedicated fans may recognize from earlier EP releases, are utterly astounding. It’s hard to believe that having emerged rather boldly at the close of last year that she hasn’t warranted any awards.
BY HANNAH GOODALL
The album in its entirety jolts the system into a newly founded enthusiasm for music, as no two tracks sound the same. Key moments of music indulgence and eloquence exist in ‘Girls’, ‘Oh No’ and title track ‘Family Jewels’, which is the most perfect way to close an album.
This album is a must buy and the epitome to an impressive back catalogue of single releases. One thing is for sure, with such a roaring start to her musical career, Marina and her Diamonds are destined to go far.
