NEWS: Students’ Union vows to “fight to the bitter end” on tuition fees

SU President Gareth McGreevy has spoken out against Joanne Stuart’s recent recommendations to the NI Executive on the future of university funding, a report which proposes increases in tuition fees of more than £2,000 per year.

BREAKING NEWS: Stuart to recommend up to £6,000 tuition fees

 

Monday, February 7th, 2011

 

Sources have revealed to The Gown that the Stuart Report, due to be released tomorrow, will recommend that the current cap on tuition fees in Northern Ireland be raised to a maximum of £6,000 per year.  More details will follow as they are released.

REVIEW: Josh Groban – Illuminations

Josh Groban fans have been eagerly awaiting his latest musical offering, Illuminations, which has been three years in the making due to a host of engagements for Groban such as starring in the twenty-first anniversary of Chess, the musical, singing at the sixtieth Annual Emmy awards and duetting  with Heather Headley at The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial.

NEWS: SU representatives concerned over the fate of NI students

Queen’s student representatives have expressed their concerns after the coalition government’s vote to increase the cap on tuition fees in England to £9,000 was passed on last Thursday. Although the fate of English students has been sealed, that of students in Northern Ireland still hangs in the balance.

NEWS: Constitutional amendments pass at last SU Council meeting of semester

 

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

 

SU Council’s last meeting before the Christmas recess passed three amendments to the SU constitution and unanimously backed the reports of each sabbatical officer. Tuesday’s meeting also witnessed lengthy debate both on last week’s student protest outside Belfast City Hall, and on the proposal for a Republican Congress society at Queen’s.
