FEATURE: Queen’s scheme promises graduates a boost in tough jobs market

Graduation is a very daunting prospect for many students, as every year thousands of graduates leave higher education in the UK to join the competitive job market. However, Queen’s University have issued a press release promising to give graduates a boost in today’s challenging job market. This year, 194 QUB students will be awarded a City and Guilds Licentiateship Diploma for skills gained during work placements with a range of employers in both the public and private sectors.

NEWS: Two women robbed in Botanic and Holylands area

A 23-year-old woman was assaulted by a man while she walked along Botanic Avenue at around 6:30pm on Tuesday 16th February. A man grabbed her, pulled her into Ireton Street and stole her purse. The victim received minor injuries during the struggle.

Shortly after 6:30pm another woman was robbed of her purse in Fitzroy Avenue by a man matching the same description as the previous woman’s attacker. The woman received no injuries.

Similar incidents have occurred since, however the victims have not yet made statements to the police. A police spokesperson has stated that these robberies are believed to be linked and three men have been charged in connection with both incidents.

NEWS: Cars vandalised in Holylands

A number of students contacted the police after witnessing a crowd of young men jumping up and down on a car bonnet outside their apartment in College Park Avenue, around 3am on Sunday morning. One of the students recalled how the men kicked the windscreen through and ran down the street laughing.
