Hardcore music fans go to Glastonbury, hardcore cupcake fans go to the sabb office for Sam Tan cupcakes, and hardcore gamers?  They rock the Q-con.  From 24-26th of June, Queen’s Students’ Union plays host to the largest gaming convention in Ireland.  The event attracts gamers from all over the country; from the rural hamlets of Cork to the fantasy land of Hyrule à la Zelda. If there’s an internet connection, there’s a way.

NEWS: Candidates emerge for SU sabbatical elections (updated)

Candidates for the upcoming Students’ Union sabbatical elections are beginning to emerge in what is shaping up to be a closely contested campaign. Five of the seven current officers will seek re-election. SU President Gareth McGreevy and VP Education Nathan Anderson on the other hand have decided against standing.

NEWS: Constitutional amendments pass at last SU Council meeting of semester

SU Council’s last meeting before the Christmas recess passed three amendments to the SU constitution and unanimously backed the reports of each sabbatical officer. Tuesday’s meeting also witnessed lengthy debate both on last week’s student protest outside Belfast City Hall, and on the proposal for a Republican Congress society at Queen’s.
