After the success of their self-titled debut album, which featured light-hearted floor fillers like ‘Stabbed’ and ‘Daddy’s Gone’ Glasvegas faced the question which has been bamboozling artists for decades – namely, is it still acceptable to sing about social workers and young offenders institutions when you’re a multi-millionaire rock star who lives in LA, surrounded by cocktails and recreational drugs?

On Thursday 14 April 2011 members of the QUB Wado Ryu Karate Club took part in fundraiser with a difference. The club was trying to think of ways to raisemoney for the earthquake victims and they came up with the unique idea of £1 1 Punch and the wheels were put in motion. David Bradley fromthe Student Union wanted a disclaimer saying it has to be signed before they could punch. We complied with this and on Thursday night 14 April between 6.30 and 9.30pmthe Club raised £396.55.
TT street racing, despite its continuing controversies, is embedded into the sporting culture of my home country, Northern Ireland. Every year avid bike fans will come from all over the world to spectate, participate and experience the legendary North West 200. Yet shamefully it’s not something I’ve personally ever been a huge fan of, mainly because I’ve never taken the time to really get to know the ins and outs of the sport. So, asking me to watch a documentary about the première event of the calendar year, the Isle of Man TT could potentially be asking for trouble. Boy was I wrong…

I wonder how this film might have been envisioned if the Twilight phenomenon hadn’t swept into the hearts of millions of adolescent females across the world. Nevertheless, regardless of how anyone really feels about the story of Edward Cullen and his charmless lover, Bella Swan, it’s happened, it was bloody successful and unfortunately now’s the time for the loosely inspired spin-offs.

“Behind every great man stands a great woman,” goes the saying. Certainly in Evita’s case this is false, simply because Eva Perón is shown to be greater than her husband, Juan. Queen’s Music Society Theatre Group’s production of the musical is one that rises far above their amateur status.

In what can only be described as one of the more interesting drama performances that the SU will host this year, the CU performed a re-enactment of the Gospel of Mark in the SU snack bar as part of their build-up towards Easter. To a packed audience, the band of just over a dozen performers (the majority with no experience of acting before) put on a sterling performance which played out without a hitch.
